One of the most valuable assets, for any company in the modern world, is their staff. ENVIRO-LOC is no exception. Fostering a strong and cohesive team is a top priority for us. We have been lucky to have an amazing group of individuals in the ENVIRO-LOC family, who each bring their own unique and special personality to their teams. There is however a unifying thread that brings the entire ENVIRO-LOC family together and that is our love and respect for our planet and our environment. This collective love turned our 2nd annual tree planting ceremony into another team building success.
For this event and in time for their 10th anniversary, we teamed up with the City of Mississauga’s “One Million Trees” program. The program aims to add one million more trees to Mississauga’s tree canopy by 2032. Since the program launched in 2013, more than 500,000 trees have been planted across Mississauga. Currently, there are approximately 2.1 million trees on public and private lands throughout the city. To find out more about this program, visit this link.
The day started at Mississauga’s Stonewood park, where we were greeted by the lovely staff from the city of Mississauga. Tim Hortons coffee and donuts were set up before the ENVIRO-LOC team started to arrive. We kicked off the ceremony with help from the city staff as they took each group for a quick training session on tree planting. As the session got underway, it was incredible to watch the ENVIRO-LOC team break down the tasks and work as teams to achieve their goal as efficiently as possible. Our target of 200 trees was reached before we knew it, and the ceremony closed as the teams celebrated over Pizza, provided by Pizza Nova.
As an innovative method of celebrating this unity, and as part of the ENVIRO-LOC mission, we gather a few times a year through eco-friendly team building activities, such as tree planting for Earth Day. These events help bring the team closer together, while simultaneously contributing to the betterment of our planet.
Apart from the profoundly symbolic act of planting trees together, organizing events such as tree planting is a simple, yet effective way of promoting the spirit of teamwork. It helps create a culture of collaboration, and strengthens bonds between team members. Working as a unit, towards a common goal in a natural environment encourages communication, shared responsibility, and brings a sense of achievement. These are the essential ingredients in the recipe for a resilient team. It is especially valuable to teams that do not usually directly work together. Such events foster a unique connection between team members that extends beyond the workplace.
Each of these activities requires team coordination and cooperation, allowing employees to strengthen their relationships while making a positive impact on the environment.

In conclusion, integrating environmental responsibility into team building activities presents a win-win situation for companies. It not only bolsters team dynamics and productivity but also resonates with the growing consumer desire for environmental stewardship. By embracing these eco-friendly initiatives, companies can cultivate a vibrant team culture and a greener planet, all in one fell swoop.
