An Interlocking driveway extension is a great way to increase parking on your property and increase the value of your home.  Interlocking Stones offer versatility when paving parking areas.  They are available in different sizes, shapes, textures and colours which allow you to find different methods of complementing  your home.

There are many different materials that can be used to pave a driveway extension.  Common choices are; Interlocking stones, poured concrete, asphalt, and gravel.  Interlocking driveway extensions are one of the most popular choices as they offer unprecedented beauty and maximum versatility.   Although concrete driveway extensions are a very durable solution, they are prone to cracking and deterioration which is not repairable.  Asphalt driveway extensions  are not usually permitted by municipalities and have a very short life expectancy.   Gravel driveway extensions are unsightly and difficult to shovel.

Interlocking driveway extensions are the most luxurious option when it comes to parking surfaces.  The vast selection of  interlocking stones available on the market make it very easy to create a design that compliments the structure of your home and the surrounding property.  By working with certified interlocking companies, they can help you narrow down the selection and work with you to build a design catered to your wants and needs.  To book a free estimate with one of our experienced interlocking contractors, please click here.

In recent years manufactures have released thicker, stronger interlocking pavers for residential use.  These 80mm interlocking stones are 25% thicker than the conventional stones that were used pre-2000.    The thicker stone allows for a stronger base to support the weight of the vehicles.  That combined with a properly maintained driveway extension that was installed using industry best practices will last somewhere between 15 and 20 years before it requires any major restoration.

The biggest misconception about Interlocking driveway extensions are that they all sink and shift.  All interlocking driveway extensions require maintenance to keep them looking fresh and to prevent sinking, shifting and weed growth.  We recommend pressure washing and reinstalling polymeric sand every 2 to 4 years based on the traffic and the elements.  If you would like to find out more information on how to properly maintain an interlocking driveway extension, please click here.
